Kamloops, B.C. – (April 21, 2008) – “Talasa”, a new $150-million residential-resort and commercial village centre was unveiled today near the rapidly growing city of Kamloops. Situated within the award winning Sun Rivers Golf Course and a five-minute drive of downtown Kamloops, Talasa consists of 450 condominiums, restaurant, shops, retail services and a 12,000-square-foot amenity building.
Talasa Village Centre offers Western Canada’s lowest priced new homes starting at $99,900 and will be the first multi-family condominiums within the Sun Rivers Golf Course community. Its economical pricing allows first-time buyers, empty nesters and out-of-province purchasers to enjoy the wide array of amenities, shops and services within the master-planned golf course community.
“With the cost of home ownership escalating in B.C. and Alberta, Talasa’s prices are incredibly affordable, especially when you consider these are golf course homes starting at less than one hundred thousand dollars” says Bill Morrison, partner of Pilothouse Real Estate Marketing. “So far, interest from buyers and investors is off the chart as they see the growth potential of this location. It’s unheard of to be able to buy a new, high-quality condominium on a golf course for this price.”
All signs indicate Kamloops, the Tournament Capital of Canada, is on the verge of a huge economic boom. In the next five years, the city, with a population of 85,000, is expected to receive 65,000 additional ‘new’ job openings for skilled workers, most notably in the construction, tourism and customer care management industries. In addition, Kamloops Airport is undergoing a $20-million expansion to be completed in 2009.
BC Real Estate Association chief economist, Cameron Muir, predicts “Kamloops will lead the province in house price increases this year”, forecasting a double-digit jump of 14 per cent, compared to eight per cent in Metro Vancouver. Kamloops housing starts reached a 13-year record high in 2007 and the construction value of residential building permits has increased by 300 per cent over the past five years.
Talasa Village Centre is set in heart of Sun Rivers, a 460 acre master-planned golf course community and Canada’s largest geothermal development representing an investment of approximately $800 million. Currently, 500 people reside in Sun Rivers and eventually 5,000 people will call Sun Rivers home. Construction of the fully approved new Talasa Village Centre has already begun and is expected to be finished in 2010.
Talasa’s sales centre opens April 26th with sales to begin in May 2008. More information on Talasa and Western Canada’s lowest priced new homes community is available at www.talasaliving.com.
Cambri Development Group purchased the lands in 2007 and is the developer for the entire community. Cambri’s management team has decades of experience in delivering residential and commercial developments of the highest quality and are also proud Kamloops residents.
